Project from my graduate portfolio Part.3 – I Do Not Exist Campaign/Workshop

When I decided to that I wanted to become a Graphic Designer/Illustrator/photographer (ha, is there anything that I don't want to do?:) my parents were adamant that this wouldn't be a good career choice. Reason being that I would have to go to university and get myself into debt and they thought that there weren't many jobs in design. This is where I got the idea for this workshop. The 'I Do Not Exist' workshop teaches children the importance of design in our environment. The school corridor display (see image below) encourages children to see how a world without design could not function, therefore highlighting it's impact on the everyday. I think that a workshop like this should be part of a childs curriculum at school. They need to know the benefits of taking up a career in design.

Ps. If my High School tutor Mr. Whitehead  saw that I got a Ba Hons degree in Graphic Design he would have a heart attack because he wouldn't let me study it as a subject. He said I was too 'disruptive and delinquent' in class.

The activity pack (below) that gives children various design challenges to complete. Each pack comes complete with a T-Shirt, exercise book & pencils. The exercise book is a basic introduction to various disciplines within design.

The 'Week Of Design' Workshop :)

Time is an important factor within the design process. Myself and four other designers wanted to set ourselves a challenge to see how much work could be produced within five days.
The week consisted of individual and group work. The briefs for the workshop were set by other designers because we wanted to ensure that we did not have any preconceptions about any outcomes. Briefs were set by: Graphic Thought Facility, Spin, Daniel Eatock, Eat Sleep Work/Play and Kieran O'Connor.

Shown above is how I documented my experience within the week of design workshop.
Also with images of some of the outcomes.

Images above are from the selective interval recorder that documented the whole week.
A frame was recorded every 10mins throughout each day of our workshop.

Project from my graduate portfolio Part.1 – Ice Jewellery

Project from my graduate portfolio part 1////// ---Ice Jewellery--- Ice Jewellery that represents the beauty and preciousness of water. By holding the Ice Jewel close to the body it depicts our intimate connection with water, presenting it as a valuable entity. We tend to believe there is an infinite supply of water but the truth is we are running out.

DELS featured in Wallpaper* Magazine '100 Design graduates to watch' article January 2008

I was reading through Wallpaper* Magazine [January 2008, The 'Next Generation' issue] and saw that I was featured in a graduate directory./// The graduate directory, who they described in the article as '100 young creatives who should be on your radar', was a showcase for up and coming talent trying to break into the industry. The article also featured three of my friends too Christopher Barrett, Nick O'Brien and Jennie Hannock. ///
There is an online version of this article which features a profile about my work and influences. Click the link to read our profiles
